Pictures from along the Appalachian Trail

Click here for a link to a blog called "Traveling with Andrew and Jennifer". The third photo down is of a vertical faced cairn with the comment "We don't know what these were constructed for, but there were about 30 or more of them stretched out over a mile or so along a ridgeline."

Peter Waksman posted a similar photo on his blog two years or so ago, and I believe that photo was of a pile in Virginia. Is there any way of determining where this photo was taken?

I think you're right, that they are in VA, based on the other photos, of the Audie Murphy monument and Tinker Cliffs/McAfee Knob photos. I thought their comment was interesting, that "there were about 30 or more of them stretched out over a mile or so along a ridgeline". I'd like to see that in person!
