Panorama from The Logan site

I was able to make one whole panorama of the Logan site, but the size was too big to upload, so I had to divide it into two sections.

This is the left side:

This is the right side:

These shots don't show every cairn or rock pile at the site, only the most I could get by standing in one spot. There are some hiding under the hemlocks in the background, and some on the other side of the swamp.

Nice spot. Are these new finds?

No, they are the cairns from my 9/22/07 post, only without the leaf cover. I went there with a friend who has never seen the site before. I was concerned about the sun going down before we got out of the state forest, so we didn't get much time at the site. Hopefully, I'll get back out there again before the leaves get back on the trees. I want to spend more time exploring on the east and southeast ends of the site. I think there could be some things on the other side of that swamp that I've missed.

That looks like a good grid.

I hadn't thought of it as a grid until now! I've waypointed these cairns (not sure if I got all of them because there are so many) but I need to get out there one day - early - so I could have the time to make field notes.

What are the yellow spots on the trees?

That is the boundary of NY State Land. This site is surrounded on 3 sides by private land. But, where it opens up into state land, there are over 5,000 acres there to explore! The DEC marks all of the State Land boundaries with that conspicuous yellow paint.

I used to walk that property all the time, and there is several more piles in and around that area. There is a defined pile across the road with even more piles and more structures including effigy and poterry shards.
