Just a few more Logan pics

Remember this cairn from the Logan site (my 9/22/07 post)? It had a strange 'new' look to it. I grabbed another photo when I was back out there, so here is a side by side comparison:

So, it seems as though my camera was doing something odd to make that cairn look lighter the first time I was out.

Then I found the shape of this rock odd, so I grabbed a quick picture of it:

Here are a few shots looking around or over one cairn to the next:

And for the fans of water near these sites, I took a picture of where the water flows out from the site. If you're following the trail, you have to cross this part of the creek to get to the large cairn on the other side of the swamp.

Panorama from The Logan site

I was able to make one whole panorama of the Logan site, but the size was too big to upload, so I had to divide it into two sections.

This is the left side:

This is the right side:

These shots don't show every cairn or rock pile at the site, only the most I could get by standing in one spot. There are some hiding under the hemlocks in the background, and some on the other side of the swamp.

Nothing new - more pictures of the Logan Site

This past weekend, I decided to go to the Logan site to get some pictures with the leaves off the trees.

If you click on this picture for a larger view, you can see more cairns in the back, hiding under the hemlocks:

I thought I would be able to do some exploring, in addition to seeing this site again. I don't like to admit this, but it took me over about 2 hours to get into this site and 2 hours to get out, so I didn't go exploring. I'll have a few more photos from this site throughout the week.

New blog - The Bluff Point Ruins

Click on the title above for a link to the new blog. It is for a site not far from here, The Bluff Point Ruins, in Yates County near Keuka Lake.

Where the creek runs above and beneath a stone wall

This video is not so much for the picture, as it is for the sound at this spot:

One good rock pile

When I took a hike Christmas eve morning, I did find one very nice rock pile among those covered with snow. This one is located in the area that I believe is a grid. It's funny how I did not notice this one when there was no snow and, now that there is snow, it's the only one I could see clearly.

These photos are close up of the stacking at the top...

...and the bottom:

And one photo with the 4 ft measuring stick.

I particularly like the way the water, that flows out on top of the base rock, is frozen there along with some of the fall leaves.
